In August 2019, 23-year-old Elijah McClain was walking home with some ice tea he had bought for his cousin. On the way he was stopped by police; within minutes Elijah was being restrained and placed in a chokehold. Things escalated further when the police had the young man, who by this point was slipping in and out of consciousness, injected with ketamine.
Elijah died 3 days later in hospital, this is his story.
