Throughout the 2000s tabloid TV was at its peak. The Jeremy Kyle Show didn’t follow celebrities into China Whites on a Thursday, it humiliated white working-class people every day at 9:30 am.

And we all watched it. The Jeremy Kyle Show enjoyed 1 million viewers every day. On this week's ShortHand learn how the show and its studio were explicitly designed to bring out the very worst in extremely vulnerable people.

We will never know how many lost their lives as a result of this daytime nightmare.
